UPC movie night marked a success

On Oct. 20 at 7 p.m., University Program Council hosted their first ever outdoor movie night located on the West Hall lawn. The film shown was a fairly new release, Ant-Man (PG-13).

Ant-Man is a 2015 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics characters of the same name: Scott Lang and Hank Pym. Produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, it is the twelfth installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, “cat burglar” Scott Lang must embrace his inner hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.

By 6:30 p.m. the council had the outside themed movie theatre ready for action. There was a nice amount of students already heading down to the lawn with their snacks and blankets ready for the movie. The students sat in front of a large blow up screen with popcorn, drinks, and other goodies provided by UPC.

Karen Wash said that she was a regular at most UPC events especially the movie nights. She loves to be surrounded by friends and fellow students and has a great time watching movies she otherwise wouldn’t get a chance to see any time soon. “They always choose movies that almost everyone can get in to, each month there is something anyone should be able to enjoy,” she says.

UPC members seemed to have enjoyed themselves as well. Many said that UPC was a program they had been in for some time now and always felt good about getting to involve themselves in activities the whole campus can enjoy together.

The University Program Council is a registered student organization that serves as a programming extension of the Office of Campus Life. UPC provides FREE movie nights, game shows, lectures and open mic.
