Each summer, teachers in secondary schools attend UALR’s AP Summer Institutes at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Science, and the Arts in Hot Springs. The institutes provide Pre-AP and AP instruction in English, math, social studies, science, art, and foreign language.
Institute faculty members are experienced AP or Pre-AP teachers and include AP exam readers and award winners. UALR faculty members also participate in the institutes’ sessions. More than 800 teachers receive training in teaching Advanced Placement and Pre-AP courses annually. Since its inception in 1996, the Center has served teachers from across the country including the states of California, Texas, Oklahoma, Georgia, Tennessee, Missouri, North Carolina, Colorado, Florida, Mississippi, Louisiana, and New Mexico.
