Internships/Service Learning Opportunities

  • Latonya Suber, APRN; Laura Mayfield, APRN; and Tracy England, APRN acted as clinical preceptors for two Family Nurse Practitioner students (one from UAMS and the other from South University in Savannah, Georgia). This experience provided the students with an opportunity to observe and actively participate in the delivery of health care and to incorporate advanced practice concepts.
  • The UALR Nursing Department contacted Health Services about allowing one of their RN students to complete her internship hours in the clinic. Keirsten Lee worked along side Chanell Smith, RN and was given the opportunity to gain familiarity with clinical functions and to participate in daily activities of the clinic.
  • Vanessa Lewis, Health Promotion, Programs and Education (HPPE) coordinator, worked with the UALR Department of Health, Human Performance & Sports Management to provide senior students with practical, hands-on experience in their field of study. Because of this partnership, 6 interns were able to complete their required hours on campus.
  • Students and organizations from across the UALR campus took advantage of  several service learning opportunities offered through the HPPE office. A total of 167 students, including many from Greek Life, Trojan Talk, First Year Experience, and the Department of Health, Human Performance & Sports Management, obtained their required volunteer hours.
