Health Services

Medical Excuse Policy

Historically, students and faculty have relied on medical excuses as a method to confirm that students were unable to attend class.  Unfortunately, these excuses are often requested after recovery from an illness or injury and do not, in fact, reflect any interaction with a health care provider.  In addition, Health Services is limited by HIPAA in the amount of information we are able to provide about an individual’s medical condition.  For these reasons, the Medical Providers at UALR Health Services WILL NOT PROVIDE CLASS EXCUSES.  If requested, we will provide the student with a copy of the clinical note(s) from their visit.
