The Green Team is a student organization that serves as the sustainability committee for the Office of Student Housing and the residential community. The purpose of the committee is to provide a residential base for students to express interest in making housing and the global community aware of sustainable issues.
The committee supports the sustainable initiatives of the campus-wide sustainability committee. However, the primary focus of the organization is centered on creating residential facilities and student programs that promote and achieve an efficient use of housing resources. The committee also serves as a forum for residents to make recommendations to the Office of Student Housing regarding the implementation of policies that promote environmental sustainability in campus housing.
The members of the committee are known as Sustainability Officers. The officers play a vital role in the development and implementation of Housing’s sustainability initiatives. The officers are responsible for introducing new ideas, evaluating the effectiveness of current sustainability initiatives, and voting on sustainability initiatives that will be implemented in the housing community with the approval of the Sustainability Coordinator.
The committee will have a Chief Sustainability Officer that will conduct meetings and oversee the activities and the productiveness of the committee. The committee will have one advisor, the Sustainability Coordinator.
