Everyone has problems at one time or another. Problems, like people, come in all sizes, types, intensities, and can come at any time. Problems sometimes start small, but can grow and spread to other area of a person's life threatening; a marriage, a career, or both.
The Arkansas Employee Asistance Program (AEAP) was developed to provide counseling, information, and management consultation for employees who experience some form of personal distress. The program was implemented as a result of the commitment to the well-being of the valued employees. The University of Arkansas at Little Rock recognizes the need to include family members in the helping process; therefore, your family members are eligible to participate in the EAP.
Types of Issues
Other concerns you may use AEAP for include:
Stress Management
Financial Concerns
Alcohol and other Drug Abuse
Elder Care
Job/Career Issues
Parenting
Legal Issues
Wellness
Marital/Family Problems
Personal/Emotional Concerns
This is not a laundry list of all the problems people have and the EAP is not a cure-all. It doesn't get involved in grievance or disciplinary problems and it is not designed to replace any personnel or management procedures. But, it is certainly a good place to start when you're facing problems that could get you down.
Your first appointment provides an opportunity for you and the EAP counselor to identify the problem and, working as a team, begin outlining solutions. If you have a particular problem that you aren't sure the EAP can help you with, give us a call
Cost
UALR has prepaid the entire cost of the program. If you are referred to a community resource in a specialized area, and you choose to use services other than your EAP, you will be responsible for the those costs. The EAP counselor works closely with the employee/client to choose from a full range of referral options that are within the employee's financial means as well as meeting the personal needs. The EAP staff will follow up to ensure that you are satisfied with the assistance provided and that every effort is being made to resolve your concern.
Confidentiality
Your privacy is a prime concern with AEAP and your privacy is protected by state and federal law and professional standards of confidentiality. Any records or notes remain in the EAP and do not become a part of a personnel file, or any other record. If you accept a referral to the EAP by a supervisor, the EAP will release only that information that you expressly authorize.
