The Department of Health Sciences at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR) invites applications for a tenure-track position of Assistant Professor of Health Sciences with a Ph.D. emphasis in Health Education (R97795). Requirements for the position, which is to begin in January of 2010 or in August of 2010, are Ph.D. or Dr.P.H., and experience in community health promotion and planning, development, evaluation and assessment of health programs. Responsibilities will include the development of research/grant programs and community partnerships to identify health problems and promote wellness throughout the state and teaching in the emphasis subject area on both the bachelor and master degree level. The successful applicant will also have departmental responsibilities in student advisement, university committee assignments, and community/public service. Certified Health Education Specialist credentials preferred.
The Department of Health Sciences is situated in the College of Science and Mathematics. The department offers a Bachelors of Health Sciences and a M.S. in one of three emphasis areas: Health Education, Exercise Science, and Sport Management. The faculty is currently comprised of 12 full-time and 4 part-time members. UALR is Arkansas' only metropolitan university, a diverse intellectual community of more than 12,000 students. Little Rock is the capital and the economic and cultural center of the state.
