The University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR) College of Education, Department of Counseling, Adult and Rehabilitation Education (CARE) invite applications for an assistant/associate professor position in rehabilitation teaching/vision rehabilitation therapy for the blind (R99449).
The deadline for applications is January 8, 2010. The starting date will be August 16, 2010, pending availability of funding. The position is a twelve-month tenure-track position. The Rehabilitation Teaching/Vision Rehabilitation Therapy program provides coursework leading toward a master’s degree in Rehabilitation of the Blind with emphasis in Rehabilitation Teaching. Responsibilities include program coordination and recruitment, teaching online courses in the Rehabilitation Teaching master’s program, conducting the hands-on workshops required with the online coursework, providing supervision to interns, participation in university and college committees, curriculum development, participation in the implementation of the program strategic plan; demonstration of scholarship/research; development of university/agency partnerships; service to the community, university, and professional organizations.
Requirements include: a Doctorate from an accredited institution in a closely related field, a master’s or bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitation Teaching, ACVREP certification in VRT, and a minimum of three successful years of direct rehabilitation teaching experience. An ABD may be considered, though degree must be completed by position start date of fall semester 2010.
Preferred Requirements: university teaching experience, experience with teaching online, national service to the field of rehabilitation teaching.
