February 27, 2015. Acxiom Corporation Headquarters in Little Rock Arkansas has announced that MSIQ Student Abhishek Kumar will receive one of five 2015 Diversity Scholarships in the amount $5,000. The Acxiom Diversity Scholarship initiative was designed to create an inclusive and supportive workplace environment. Diverse students, who are enrolled full-time in a post-secondary degree program in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Information Quality, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics and Statistics or related areas of study, are eligible for the program. In addition to the monetary award, scholarship winner are also eligible to receive a paid internship at one of Acxiom’s worldwide locations. The scholarships are renewable up to one year. Acxiom encourages women, veterans, minorities, and individuals with a disability to apply for this scholarship.
Abhishek came to the UALR MSIQ program in fall 2013 after completing his undergraduate degree in computer science and engineering in India. “All of the courses and instructors in the IQ program have helped me to achieve this scholarship. Since entering this program, I have explored different technologies in the Information Quality/Data Science field, and I strive to learn more and more. I would like to say a big thank you to Dr. Talburt and the IQ program. Also, I would like to thank Acxiom Corporation for recognizing me for this award.” said Abhishek.
As for the scholarship, “The students are interviewed for their passion and professional background. I was interviewed at the Conway, Arkansas, location. Questions such as what do you know about Acxiom, what kind of job are you looking for, and questions about previous work experience were asked during the interview.” added Abhishek.
