There are 3 different types of exchange visitors that come to UALR. Each group requires different processing. J-1 Exchange Students are processing through the Study Abroad office. Research Scholars and Visiting Faculty are processed directly through International Student Services. Please choose the category most appropriate to you from the selections below:

Items Needed from Visitor

1) J-1 Application Form

is is an application that the Exchange Visitor must complete and submit to the International Student Coordinator.

2) Original funding document, in English, showing dollar amount and dates of funding if Department offer does not cover required amount for visa requirements.

1)J-1 Visa Departmental Application

• This application is a document that the Exchange Visitor’s UALR department will submit in order to be considered for the J-1 visa.

2) Invitation letter from UALR Department for Researcher with funding listed.

NEW J-1 SPONSORED BY UALR AS VISITING FACULTY

Items Needed from Faculty

1) J-1 Application Form

• This is an application that the Exchange Visitor must complete and submit to the International Student Coordinator.

2) Original funding document, in English, showing dollar amount and dates of funding if Department offer does not cover required amount for visa requirements.

3) Curriculum Vitae

(If Exchange Visitor is being paid by an organization other than UALR.)

1) J-1 Visa Departmental Application

• This application is a document that the Exchange Visitor’s UALR department will submit in order to be considered for the J-1 visa.
• 2) Invitation letter from UALR Department for Visiting Faculty with funding listed.

NEW J-1 SELF-SPONSORED COMING TO UALR FOR RESEARCH

1) J-1 Application Form

• This is an application that the Exchange Visitor must complete and submit to the International Student Coordinator.
• 2) Original funding document, in English, showing dollar amount and dates of funding for visa requirements.

Items Needed from Department

1) J-1 Visa Departmental Application

• This application is a document that the Exchange Visitor’s UALR department will submit in order to be considered for the J-1 visa.

2) Invitation letter from UALR Department for Researcher stating that no funding will be available.

NEW J-1 SELF SPONSORED COMING TO UALR AS VISITING FACULTY

1) J-1 Application Form

• This is an application that the Exchange Visitor must complete and submit to the International Student Coordinator.

2) Original funding document, in English, showing dollar amount and dates of funding if Department offer does not cover required amount for visa requirements.

Items Needed from Department

1) J-1 Visa Departmental Application

• This application is a document that the Exchange Visitor’s UALR department will submit in order to be considered for the J-1 visa.

2) Invitation letter from UALR Department for Visiting Faculty stating that no funding is provided.

CURRENT J-1 TRANSFERRING TO UALR FROM ANOTHER INSTITUTION

1) J-1 Application Form

• This is an application that the Exchange Visitor must complete and submit to the International Student Coordinator.

2) J-1 Transfer of Program Sponsorship Form

• Exchange visitor should give this form to their current International Office and then submit by fax (501-683-7567) to UALR International Office
• Exchange visitor should also submit copies of all previous DS-2019 forms
• Exchange visitor should submit copy of identification page of passport

3) Original funding document, in English, showing dollar amount and dates of funding if Department offer does not cover required amount for visa requirements.
