Scholarships

More than $50 million in scholarships, grants, loans, and work study are awarded each year to more than 70 percent of UALR students.

UALR International Student Award for Out-of-State Tuition

A Three Year Pilot Project (2007-2010)

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock’s strategic plan includes a commitment to fostering global awareness among its students. In support of this commitment, the University seeks to increase the number of enrolled international students. UALR has the advantage of a growing number of international faculty who are interested in recruiting students from their home countries to study at this university. Therefore, UALR will offer a limited number of out-of-state tuition awards to new international students if the following requirements are met.

The student:
• Documents academic promise with grades and test scores at the high school or college level. (Note: Because of differences in educational systems among countries, applicants will be individually evaluated.)
• Comes from an educational institution which has a relationship with a member of the UALR faculty or staff.
• Is recommended for admission by a member of the UALR faculty or staff.
• Is enrolled full time in on-campus classes.
• Is seeking a first undergraduate or graduate degree. (Law school students and law programs are not eligible.)
• Satisfies UALR’s English language proficiency expectations if the student’s first language is not English.

Undergraduate students must:

• Be accepted for admission taking 12 or more hours of credit courses at the UALR main campus and seeking their first undergraduate degree.
• Show evidence of academic promise.
• Maintain a 2.00 UALR, cumulative GPA and successfully complete a minimum of 75% of attempted hours.
• Not be Law School students and/or taking law programs.

Graduate students must:

• Be accepted for admission taking 9 hours of credit courses at the UALR main campus and seeking their first graduate degree.
• Be admitted and accepted to an eligible graduate program.
• Show evidence of academic promise.
• Maintain a 3.00 UALR, cumulative GPA and successfully complete a minimum of 75% of attempted hours.
• Not be Law School students and/or taking law programs.

Eligible students will pay in-state tuition and fees:
• Fall and Spring terms will be eligible for the award.

Effective Date:
• Fall 2008, not eligible for retroactive award.
• The award process will begin February 1 and continue until available funds have been committed.

Award Amount
• The award will not exceed the actual charge for undergraduate or graduate, out-of-state portion of the tuition/fees. (Award recipient will pay in-state tuition and fees.)

Application Process

• Apply for admission.
• Complete a UALR International Student Award for Out-of-State Students application.
• Submit a transcript from your home university
• Submit a letter of recommendation from a UALR faculty member
