International Undergraduate Transfer Students
Apply online by going to the following website: www.boss.ualr.edu. Click on “Apply for admission.” At the next page, click on “First time user account creation.” An application identification number (beginning with the letter “G”) will be assigned to you, and you will be asked to create a PIN (personal identification number). Please write these numbers down so that we may assist you with your application in the future. When asked to select an application type, choose option “L INTERNATL UNDERGRAD TRANSFER.” When asked to identify your immigration status, choose “Non-resident alien.” Complete the application, and in 4 to 5 weeks you will receive a letter from UALR with your student identification number (a number beginning with the letter “T”) requesting any additional information that is required for you to be admitted. Please include your “T-number” on any future correspondence.
Transferring to UALR
- Students transferring from another institution within the United States must submit a Transfer In Request Form completed by the applicant and by the foreign student adviser of the institution the applicant is currently attending. SEVIS file must also be transferred electronically by the previous institution to UALR.
- Transfer students who are non-native speakers of English must submit proof of English proficiency or graduate from UALR’s Intensive English Language Program.
- Students transferring 12 or fewer student semester credit hours will be required upon arrival on campus to take the Basic Skills Test for academic placement purposes.
- Students transferring 12 or fewer student semester credit hours must provide original secondary and post secondary education records with official English translations using one of the following agencies with a course by course evaluation of all post-secondary non-U.S. transcripts. AACRAO: www.aacrao.org/international/foreignEdCred.cfm - Students Transferring 12 student semester hours or more from a U.S. college or university need only submit an official college transcript.
- All transfer students must have a cumulative GPA (grade point average) of at least 2.00 from their previous college or university to be considered for admission.
To successfully complete your application to UALR, please submit the following:
- Required for the issuance of an I-20:
- A non-refundable U.S. $40.00 application fee (if paying by check, please make payable to UALR).
- Original transcripts from current non-U.S. institution, with an official English translation and a course by course evaluation from any NACES certified agency sent to:
- If you are transferring from an institution INSIDE the U.S., please send your official transcripts to the Office of Admissions.
- If you are transferring from an institution OUTSIDE the U.S., please send your official transcripts to the Office of International Services.
- Proof of English Proficiency for non-native speakers of English:
- TOEFL score of 71 or higher (internet-based) - Scores must be reported to UALR directly from ETS; or,
- Completion of English composition (levels I & II) at a regionally accredited post secondary institution with a “C” grade or better.
- Completed and signed certification of Financial Support for at least U.S. $18,600.00 with attached documentation (for example, bank statements, letter of sponsorship, scholarship letters, etc.).
- Completed Transfer In Request Form. SEVIS file must also be transferred electronically by the previous institution to UALR (applies only to students transferring to UALR from an institution in the U.S.).
- Required to complete your application to UALR (may be submitted upon arrival):
- Copy of Visa (may be submitted to OIS after arriving to the U.S.).
- Proof of immunization (obtained after arrival to UALR).
