All F and J international students as well as J visitors are required to maintain health insurance coverage. J visitors bringing J-2 dependents are also required by the Department of State to maintain sufficient health insurance coverage.
UALR provides coverage through LewerMark Health Insurance. This policy meets the standards of the Affordable Care Act and the minimum requirements regulated by the Department of State for J visitors. Rates for the 2014-2015 academic year are below. Rates are subject to change each academic year.

Students who are sponsored by their home country government may provide proof of coverage to ISS to waive the UALR policy. Documentation of coverage must be in English, must meet the requirements of the Department of State for J visa holders, and must be submitted within the first 30 days of the semester. Proof of coverage must continue to be availalbe upon request of International Student Services.
VisitingÂ scholars sponsored by their home country government may provide proof of coverage purchasedÂ through their sponsoring agency. Documentation must be in English, must meet the requirements of the Department of State for J visa holders, and be submitted at time of application.
