International Student Orientation is mandatory and provides a variety of information regarding life at UALR, campus services for students, academic policies, the U.S. educational system, American culture, health and nutrition concerns and immigration regulations. Students will also learn more about the Office of International Student Services and the support and retention activities it offers to the community.
Mandatory Immigration Reporting
During the mandatory international student orientation prior to the start of each semester, all new F-1 and J-1 international students and visiting scholars are required to report to International Student Services. An Immigration Reporting hold will be placed on each new and transfer F-1 and J-1 student that will be removed after completion of orientation. To report bring the following to orientation.
Step One: Bring immigration documents to Orientation
- Form I-20 or DS-2019
- Above documents for all dependents
Step Two: Update your local US address in BOSS
As an international student, you must always have your physical address on file with UALR within the first week of class and updated within 10 days of a move. Learn how to use BOSS.
Step Three:Â Enroll full-time for class
Your reporting requirement will be complete once you have registered for a full course load for the upcoming semester.
All students who successfully report to ISS will be registered as ACTIVE in SEVIS within 30 days of your program start date. You may request expedited registration if you plan to get your drivers license or if you have a job offer.
