Anti-virus software

UALR’s public access network (wireless, ResNet, and public facing ports) now requires up-to-date anti-virus on all Microsoft devices. To gain access to UALR’s network, an anti-virus program that can be detected by UALR’s network admission control system must be installed with the latest anti-virus definitions (no older than five days).

Students

Several free and fee-based anti-virus programs are available. To make this process easier UALR has found two free anti-virus software packages that function with UALR’s network admission control system. Either of these are easy to install and function with UALR’s system:

Having multiple anti-virus programs on your computer will NOT help and could make your access to the UALR network more difficult. Having multiple anti-virus programs on your computer means you have to keep all of them up-to-date. UALR recommends only one anti-virus program per computer.

Complete list of anti-virus programs that are compatible with the UALR network admission control system. NOTE: Only the listed versions are supported. If your anti-virus manufacturer and created a newer version there is the possibility that the newest version has yet to be promulgated. Anti-virus manufacturers can also write their programs in such a way that it is difficult to detect them.
