Professor Aiyetoro honored by Arkansas ACLU

Professor Adjoa Aiyetoro has been named the Arkansas ACLU‘s Civil Libertarian of the Year.

In making their choice, the Arkansas ACLU cited Professor Aiyetoro’s work on the death penalty and her life-long devotion to social justice on a number of fronts, including racial justice and criminal justice. The Arkansas ACLU noted that, “She has bravely offered a sometimes unwelcome reminder that racism in Arkansas and America is not ‘over.'”

Part of Professor Aiyetoro’s service has included sitting on the ACLU board and on its legal panel. She worked with the ACLU National Prison Project from 1981 until 1992.
