Part-Time Student Practicum Application

This application is for the Practicum program for part-time law students only. If you are a full-time law student or are interested in the Public Service Externship program, please apply here.

Also, please note: “To avoid any conflicts of interest, judicial practicum students are prohibited from engaging in outside employment in the legal profession (whether paid or unpaid) during the term of their placement.”

Before you begin this application, make sure you have a current resume and a typed statement not longer than two pages, double-spaced, explaining why you would like to participate in the Practicum Program. Both of these items should be in PDF form so they can be attached to this application.

Selection criteria for practicum placements:

  • Initiative, self-motivation, reliability, and a strong work ethic
  • Judgment, temperament, and office demeanor
  • Academic qualifications (grade point, class rank, honors, activities)
  • Strong writing, research, and people skills
  • Relevant work or volunteer experience
  • Years of law school completed
  • Enthusiasm for and interest in public service work
