Library Acquires Flowers Law Society Papers

The UALR/Pulaski County Law Library is pleased to announce the recent acquisition of the W. Harold Flowers Law Society Papers, the records of Arkansas’s only African American bar association. The Society changed its name from the Arkansas Black Lawyers Association to the W. Harold Flowers Law Society in 1981 in honor of Mr. Flowers (1911-1990), a pioneering African American attorney who was active in significant and historic efforts to secure equal rights for African Americans. Licensed in Arkansas in 1935, Mr. Flowers led the Arkansas NAACP and the Committee of Negro Organizations for several years.
