WestlawNext makes special provisions to extend password access for students who are enrolled in summer classes or who are working:
- For a professor as a Research Assistant
- On law review
- In an unpaid public interest internship
In all other circumstances, students’ usage will be limited to 40 hours of academic access during the months of June and July, 2013. As of August 1, 2013, returning students’ passwords will be reactivated to full academic use.
New graduates may register to extend WestlawNext passwords through November for bar examination study.
To register for summer use or a bar study extension:
- log in to Westlaw
- click on the summer access advertisement
- complete and submit the form
Use of your WestlawNext academic password for work purposes is prohibited. Thomson-West reserves the right to collect from users all WestlawNext charges incurred through use of law school passwords for other than educational purposes at Westlaw’s commercial rates.
LexisNexis and Lexis Advance
LexisNexis access will be restricted during the summer months.
Lexis Advance will remain accessible throughout the summer to all students who have registered a Lexis Advance password. Students will have unrestricted, unlimited access to Lexis Advance for both educational use and for use in summer associate, internship, and/or clerkship positions.
If you already have a Lexis Advance Student ID, you don’t need to do anything to get summer access. If you do not have a Lexis Advance Student ID, contact Professor Melissa Serfass.
The Bloomberg Law subscription remains active throughout the summer and has unlimited student access. Bloomberg encourages law students to use their academic access to Bloomberg Law as much as possible, even when working for law firms.
New graduates will have unlimited access to Bloomberg Law for six months after graduation.
If you do not have a Bloomberg Law account, come to the Reference Desk for an account card.
