Transfer Applicants

The UALR William H. Bowen School of Law welcomes applications for transfer.  We admit transfer applicants each semester.  If you have a baccalaureate degree from a four-year accredited undergraduate institution and have satisfactorily completed at least 20 semester hours of credit at a law school accredited by the American Bar Association, you are eligible to apply for transfer to the Bowen School of Law. If you wish to transfer from a state-accredited law school (a school not accredited by the American Bar Association), you must rank in the top 15 percent of your class at that school.

Follow the Transfer Student Application Instructions, and download and complete the Applicant Information Form, or you may request a transfer application packet to be sent to you by e-mailing the Admissions Office or telephoning 501.324.9439.

Admission depends on the availability of space, your need to transfer, and your academic credentials.  The number of credit hours which you may transfer to the Bowen School of Law will depend on the quality of your previous performance, the similarity between your course work and the Bowen School of Law’s curriculum, and the amount of time that has elapsed since you completed the work. You cannot transfer more than 30 credit hours for work completed at a law school which is not a member of the Association of American Law Schools.  After transferring, you must complete a minimum of 42 credit hours at the Bowen School of Law.  If you have completed more than 48 credit hours at another law school, you should consider applying as a visiting student.
