|What: 2014 Comprehensive
Intervention Model Institute
When: June 30-July 2, 2014
Where: Little Rock Marriott Hotel
The Comprehensive Intervention Model (CIM) summer institute is designed for educators who teach struggling readers. The first day describes how schools can use the CIM as a Response to Intervention method. A focus is placed on creating collaborative structures for aligning instruction across classroom, Title One, and special education. Day two and three provides details for implementing three small group interventions: Guided Reading Plus (grades 1-4); assisted writing (grades K-4); and Comprehension Focus Groups (grades 4-6 or higher). The institute is designed to assist school teams. Therefore, it is recommended that schools send a team that consists of educators who work with struggling readers. This group can become the basis of the school’s RtI literacy leadership team.
