Magnolia Educators Meet in Virtual Communities to Learn about Literacy

magnolia educatorsCarla Soffos, Literacy Coach in the Center for Literacy, uses teleconferencing to provide biweekly training in the Comprehensive Intervention Model (CIM) to school teams in the Magnolia School District. The virtual training is partially funded by a grant from the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation in support of the Grade Level Reading Campaign. The CIM training has occurred over the fall semester and will continue into the next year. Soffos meets with school teams to discuss and administer literacy assessments, select children for interventions, plan lessons, and observe live teaching. In the photo, the Magnolia teachers use diagnostic data to plan a Guided Reading Plus intervention, and Soffos interacts with the team to provide guidance and feedback.
