The study examined the benefits and challenges of using technology for training Reading Recovery teachers and the subsequent effect on Reading Recovery students. The technology included a combination of Skype, Polycom, and Zoom teleconferencing with a trained teacher leader onsite to support the new teacher in the remote area. Preliminary results indicate that the Reading Recovery teachers in the remote areas were successful and their Reading Recovery students performed well. This finding could be influenced by the fact that a teacher leader was available at the remote site to provide additional support for the new teacher. The study will be continued in Year 2.
