- Congratulations to our summer graduates: Jacqueline West and Stephanie Gurley-Hardy.
Alum Regina Gibson (Rhetoric/Writing & Gerontology) presented the findings of her thesis research, “Physician Communication, Assessment, and Testing Older patients for HIV/AIDS” along with her mentor Dr. Mark Krain at the 2009 National Council on Aging Conference in Las Vegas Nevada.
- Alum Valerie Johnston (Psychology/Rhetoric/Writing) began a PhD in Experimental Health
Psychology in Fall 2009 at the University of Texas at Arlington.
- The MALS Graduate Presentation Forum last Spring featured 3 presenters:
- Regina Gibson: “Physician Communication With Older Patients: Particularly Older African American Women, About Sexual Health and Sexual Risk Behaviors for HIV/AIDS”

- Shannon Caldwell: “Communicating with the World One Person at a Time: Teachable Moments with President Bill Clinton”
- Valerie Johnston: “Posttraumatic Stress Disorder: A Theory of an Efficacious Treatment Plan”
