Occasionally, we may conditionally admit applicants who do not meet our program’s minimum GPA requirement of a 3.0 for the bachelor’s degree or for the last 60 hours of coursework. If you have strong writing samples and strong letters of recommendation, and if your GPA is 2.75 or higher, you may be eligible for conditional admission.
If you are conditionally admitted, you may immediately begin coursework in our MA program. After you complete 12 hours of graduate coursework, if your GPA is 3.0 or higher, you will be granted full admission to the program. However, if your GPA is lower than 3.0 after 12 hours, you will be denied admission, and you will not be allowed to take additional coursework.
Students who are conditionally admitted are not eligible for financial aid, including teaching assistantships, research or administrative assistantships, scholarships, or federal aid.
Note: If your GPA for your last 60 hours of bachelor’s degree coursework is lower than 2.75, you are not eligible for admission to UALR’s Graduate School. You will need to take post-baccalaureate courses at the undergraduate level in order to raise your GPA.
Post-baccalaureate courses cannot be applied to your future MA coursework requirements. The graduate coordinator can help you calculate how many courses you will need to take and recommend appropriate courses for you. Contact Dr. Kuralt at email@example.com for an appointment.
