M.A. in Rehabilitation of the Blind: Orientation and Mobility

Program Accreditation

Currently there is no formal accreditation of Orientation and Mobility programs nationwide. UALR’s O&M Program is recognized by The Association for Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired (AER). AER is the primary association of professional personnel serving individuals with impaired vision and develops the standards for professional practice in O&M. The UALR O&M Program is scheduled to undergo an AER peer review in the fall of 2013. Program completers are eligible to apply for the national certification examination in Orientation and Mobility administered by The Academy for Certification of Vision Rehabilitation and Education Professionals(ACVREP). Currently masters degree and graduate certificate program completers are recognized by ACVREP to sit for the national O&M examination when they apply for national certification in O&M.
