M.A. in Rehabilitation of the Blind: Orientation and Mobility

William H. Jacobson, Ed.D., whjacobson@ualr.edu

Dr. Jacobson taught O&M in Atlanta, GA, and Albany, NY, and joined the UALR faculty in 1978. He has been the coordinator of the Orientation and Mobility program since 1981. Dr. Jacobson has a B.S.Ed. (English, English education and teaching students with impaired vision) from The Ohio State University, a M.Ed. in peripatology (orientation and mobility) from Boston College, and a Ed.D. in education (special education and public administration) from The University of Arkansas-Fayetteville. Dr. Jacobson has written numerous articles, book chapters and is the author of The Art and Science of Teaching Orientation and Mobility to Persons with Visual Impairments (1993, NY: AFB Press) Dr. Jacobson has served as chair, Division 9 (Orientation and Mobility) of AER, and has consulted in O&M throughout the U.S. and Canada, and in the Peoples Republic of China, Guam, Norway, France, Sweden, among other countries. Dr. Jacobson currently serves as chair of The Department of Counseling, Adult and Rehabilitation Education.
