M.A. in Rehabilitation of the Blind: Orientation and Mobility

William H. Jacobson, Ed.D., whjacobson@ualr.edu

Dr. Jacobson taught O&M in Atlanta, GA, and Albany, NY, and joined the UALR faculty in 1978. He has been the coordinator of the Orientation and Mobility program since 1981. Dr. Jacobson has a B.S.Ed. (English, English education and teaching students with impaired vision) from The Ohio State University, a M.Ed. in peripatology (orientation and mobility) from Boston College, and a Ed.D. in education (special education and public administration) from The University of Arkansas-Fayetteville. Dr. Jacobson has written numerous articles, book chapters and is the author of The Art and Science of Teaching Orientation and Mobility to Persons with Visual Impairments (1993, NY: AFB Press) Dr. Jacobson has served as chair, Division 9 (Orientation and Mobility) of AER, and has consulted in O&M throughout the U.S. and Canada, and in the Peoples Republic of China, Guam, Norway, France, Sweden, among other countries.
