UALR students who are selected to participate in the McNair Scholars Program must meet the following eligibility requirements:

• Two thirds of participants must be declared low-income and first-generation

(First generation refers to an individual whose parent nor legal guardian holds a bachelor’s degree or higher) 

(Low-income refers to a family whose taxable income for the preceding tax year did not exceed 150% of an amount equal to the proverty level)

• One third of participants will be a member of an underrepresented group in graduate education

(African-American, American Indian/Alaskan Native, Hispanic/Latino, Pacific Islander, Native Hawaiian)

• U.S. citizen or permanent resident
• 2.75 cumulative GPA (minimum)
• Completed 60 credit hours (minimum)
