Master of Education in Learning Systems Technology

LSTE Scholarship Announcement

Smiley Scholarship Offers $6,500 Learning Systems Masters

The Arkansas Community Foundation and the UALR College of Education are encouraging students pursuing a master’s degree in Learning Systems Technology at UALR to apply for the Walter Smiley IMPAC Scholarship. Applicants may apply for the $6,500-a-year scholarship through the UALR College of Education.

The scholarship is named for the venture capitalist who initiated IMPAC Learning Systems Inc, which implemented nearly 1,000 technology programs in Arkansas school districts between 1983 and 2002. The IMPAC Learning Systems Endowment was established at the Arkansas Community Foundation in 2002 as a legacy of the computers-in-schools program that impacted thousands of Arkansas teachers and students throughout the state.

The scholarship is open to prospective and currently enrolled graduate students in the Learning Systems Technology in Education program. Teachers who have received training in the use of technology in the classroom are especially encouraged to enroll in the LSTE master’s program and apply for the scholarship.

Earned a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution with substantially the same undergraduate programs as UALR.

Achieved a 3.0 GPA on the last 60 hours (including post baccalaureate hours or a 2.7 GPA on all undergraduate hours taken for the baccalaureate degree).

Successfully applied to the UALR graduate school: UALR Graduate School

Passed an academic evaluation by the LSTE program coordinator.

Applicants must also submit a College of Education Scholarship Application outlining their interest and experience in utilizing educational technology in the classroom.
