UALR Certification Process

If you plan to use your VA monthly educational benefits for the upcoming term, please ensure you have submitted all required documentation to the UALR Office of Veterans Affairs based on your status at UALR. See below for required documentation to submit:

Continuing Students at UALR Requesting VA Benefits

  1. After finalizing registration for the term, submit the UALR on-line VA Certification Request Form (CRF). The CRF form authorizes the release of information to the Veterans Regional Office and allows the UALR VA Office to confirm your UALR registration.
    • If you change your schedule after submitting your initial CRF form, you will need to submit an updated CRF form.
  2. A signed copy of your advising form is needed to confirm that the courses you are enrolled in meet your degree requirements.
    • You may wish to have your advisor list up to six courses in case a class is closed or cancelled.
    • The advising form must be submitted to the UALR Veteran’s Affairs Office:
      1. Submit a signed copy of the advising form by email, fax, or in person; or
      2. Send an email to your advisor with a list of your enrollment. Ask your advisor to confirm that the classes pertain to your UALR degree and to list your intended major. Forward the advisor’s reply to our email, vavets@ualr.edu.

    Law Students: Please complete the Graduation Requirements Checklist for each term you are planning to register and contact the Office of Student Affairs at the UALR Bowen School of Law to complete your academic advising.

    Chapter 31-Vocational Rehabilitation students: Also have your Vocational Rehab counselor send Form 28-1905 to email, vavets@ualr.edu.

    If you change your schedule after submitting your advising form, please contact your advisor to submit an updated advising form.


Students Requesting VA Benefits for the First Time

All 1st time users of VA monthly educational benefits at UALR (except Chapter 31-Vocational Rehabilitation students) must submit the following:

  1. After finalizing registration for the term, submit the UALR on-line VA Certification Request Form (CRF). The CRF form authorizes the release of information to the Veterans Regional Office and allows the UALR VA Office to confirm your UALR registration.
    • If you change your schedule after submitting your initial CRF form, you will need to submit an updated CRF form.
  2. Confirmation of your application to Apply for VA Benefits (except ** C31 Vocational Rehabilitation students:
    • Forward the confirmation email you received from Veterans Online Application (VONAPP) to email,vavets@ualr.edu.
    • Be sure to include the following with your forwarded email: your name, UALR Student ID or last 4 digits of your SSN, date of birth, term to enroll, and Chapter Benefit applied for.

    Chapter 31-Vocational Rehabilitation students only: If approved, have your Vocational Rehab counselor send Form 28-1905 to email,vavets@ualr.edu.

  3. A copy of your Certificate of Eligibility (COE). If you are approved for benefits, you should receive the COE approximately 3-4 weeks after submitting your application to the VA Regional Office. Note: If your benefit request is denied, please contact our office so we can discuss other payment alternatives.
  4. If you are using benefits for the first time and you are a continuing student at UALR, you will also need to submit your advising form.

Students Transferring VA benefits to UALR

All transfer VA monthly benefit users must submit the following:

  1. After finalizing registration for the term, submit the UALR on-line VA Certification Request Form (CRF). The CRF form authorizes the release of information to the Veterans Regional Office and allows the UALR VA Office to confirm your UALR registration.
    • If you change your schedule after submitting your initial CRF form, you will need to submit an updated CRF form.
  2. Confirmation of your application to Transfer VA Benefits except ** except Chapter 31-Vocational Rehabilitation students:
    • Forward the confirmation email you received Veterans Online Application (VONAPP) to email, vavets@ualr.edu
    • Be sure to include the following with your forwarded email: your name, UALR Student ID or last 4 digits of your SSN, date of birth, term to enroll, and Chapter Benefit applied for.
  3. Chapter 31-Vocational Rehabilitation students only: Have your Vocational Rehab counselor send Form 28-1905 to email, vavets@ualr.edu.
