Minor in Middle Eastern Studies

Faculty Grants

The deadline for all faculty grant applications is February 6. Faculty will be notified about awards no later than February 20. Grants can be used at any time during the 2015 calendar year.
The UALR Middle Eastern Studies (MEST) Program invites UALR full-time faculty to apply for grants to support their activities and scholarship in the area of MEST. Grants typically will not exceed $3000 and funding generally ranges from $500-$2500. Grants will be reviewed on a competitive basis by the Middle Eastern Studies Committee. Part-time (adjunct) faculty of UALR can apply for small grants of up to $500.
UALR faculty members are encouraged to think creatively about the activities that the grants could fund. Academic projects related to any aspect of the Middle East or MEST course development are applicable. Scholars from all academic disciplines are encouraged to apply.
Please submit a detailed letter of application, budget, and c.v. to:
Dr. Clea Hupp
Department of History
University of Arkansas at Little Rock
2801 South University Blvd.
Stabler Hall 604
Little Rock, AR 72204-1099
Office Phone: 569-8397

Applicants should describe how their activities would fit into their agenda of scholarship and teaching, and how, due to the grant, they could contribute to the advancement of MEST at UALR. Include a preliminary budget and the total amount requested; the budget should be itemized and as detailed as possible. A commitment to teach a course on a topic pertaining to an aspect of MEST backed by a letter from a departmental chair is not required, but would substantially increase the chance of being funded. Those who have not received the grant in the past will be given priority.
