UALR Opera Theatre presents Hansel & Gretel

Where can you find mischievous children, fairies, and witches all in the same place? At Stella Boyle Smith Recital Hall Oct 28, 29, and 30, during the UALR Opera Theater’s production of HANSEL AND GRETEL by Englebert Humperdinck. Based on the beloved Grimm Fairy tale, the opera, HANSEL AND GRETEL, is the story of a brother and sister who set out to find strawberries in the woods, but encounter much more. Their musical journey through the woods comes alive with all sorts of magical creatures, including an encounter with a horrible witch. This witch is not your everyday witch, for she is more clever and charming than most. You will have to see her to believe it! Our tale is set in 1920’s Arkansas, and despite the hard times, the tricks, and the magic played on them by the cunning witch, Hansel and Gretel triumph in the end. We invite you to come and see how these two brave children outsmart the evil witch in our magical production of HANSEL AND GRETEL.
