Instrumental
If you’ve been playing a string, wind or brass instrument for just family and friends, or simply for your own enjoyment, you may want to consider going public - with the UALR Community Orchestra. Musicians young and old, students or non-students, are invited to attend and play.Through a partnership with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, the UALR Community Orchestra rehearses in the Arkansas Symphony’s rehearsal hall, 2417 North Tyler (Byrne Hall on the St. John’s campus), Thursday evenings from 5 to 7 p.m. UALR Department of Music Chair Dr. Victor Ellsworth leads the community musicians. This is not a competitive situation, and everyone who shows up will get a chair.
Students can enroll and receive credit for their participation with the community orchestra. The orchestra will select its literature from the classics to pop and jazz.
