Music

Jazz Ensemble

The UALR Jazz Ensemble was created in the fall of 2008. We focus on traditional jazz music such as Count Basie, Duke Ellington, and Glenn Miller. We have performed student arrangements as well as modern works by Pat Metheny and the Beatles. We have been invited to participate at the Dardanelle Jazz Festival and perform for the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences annual fund raising event this spring. The band consists of students, faculty, and community members. We rehearse twice a week on Mondays and Wednesday afternoons. In addition to our two performances listed above, we also will present a spring concert on May 6th in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall.

If you have an interest in jazz and want to participate in the group, contact Dr. Michael Underwood, Director of the UALR Jazz Ensemble (501) 569-3301 or by email: mpunderwood@ualr.edu.
