Vicki R. Lind

Vicki R. Lind is an Assistant Professor at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock where she specializes in music education. She holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Music Education from the University of Arizona. She also holds MME and BME degrees from Wichita State University. Lind has extensive teaching experience at the elementary, secondary, and university levels. Prior to her arrival at the University of Arkansas, Lind taught K-8 general music, directed a junior high school music program, worked as a high school choral director, and served on the music education faculty at the University of California Los Angeles and the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Dr. Lind’s research interests include issues of equity and access in music education, music teaching and teacher education, and technology instruction in music education. She has published articles in numerous journals including The International Journal of Education and the Arts, Music Education Research, The Choral Journal, The Journal of Music Teacher Education, and Contributions to Music Education. Lind was a contributing author to the 2008 MENC publication Conceptually Framing Music Teaching And Learning Within The Context Of Culture: Implications For Music Teacher Education. She has shared her research findings at national and international conferences and was an invited lecture for the 5th Interdisciplinary EduMedia Conference in Salzburg, Austria speaking on e-Portfolios in Music Teacher Education.

Dr. Lind has maintained an active role in her community. She worked extensively with The California Arts Project researching, developing, and presenting high quality professional development opportunities for art educators. Lind served as a project coordinator for the CDF Freedom School Initiative, a program focused on literacy, parent involvement, conflict resolution, and social action. She also served as a mentor to high school students and was on the board of directors for the MP3 Program, a service learning mentoring program. She continues to work in schools as a consultant and guest speaker.
