Photovoltaics

CINS researchers are using nanomaterials to improve and advance the field of photovoltaics, or solar energy. From thin film coatings that may lower the cost of solar cells to models for solar energy plants, our researchers are designing products to make utilizing solar energy easier, cheaper, and more efficient.

Our researchers have synthesized multiple carbon-polymer composites for use in photovoltaic devices. CINS researchers have also studied the doping levels of various substrates and their overall impact on photovoltaic devices. Our study of silicon doping levels, as used in hybrid organic-inorganic solar cells, has led to optimal properties of silicon for fabricating higher efficiency devices.
