Three recent graduates from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock Bowen School of Law received $1,500 scholarships from the Arkansas Association of Women Lawyers

The Bowen scholarship recipients include Jennifer Goodwin, Nicole Paladino, and Nicole Winters.

The association awarded seven scholarships this year to female law students. The funds will go toward a bar preparation course.

Goodwin said she is honored to receive the scholarship “from a group of women that have cleared the path before me in a career that was formerly dominated by men.”

After passing the bar, Goodwin will begin a two-year fellowship at Arkansas Children’s Hospital through Equal Justice Works, a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit that focuses on careers in public service for lawyers.

“I am excited to have the opportunity to serve some of the patients there who have found themselves in seemingly impossible circumstances,” Goodwin said.

Another scholarship recipient, Winters, a native of Flint, Michigan, plans to continue her career in the Legal Department at Windstream Communications. Her focus is on regulatory compliance and contract review.

“Giving back to your community is something I strongly believe in, and the AAWL Scholarship does just this,” Paladino said. “The members of the AAWL parent chapter provide annual support to graduating law students, and their support makes a very stressful part of our lives (bar prep) a little more manageable. I am incredibly thankful for AAWL’s support.

Additional recipients are University of Arkansas School of Law students, including Amber Farris, Caroline Kelley, Dequeshia Prude, and SaVannah Reading.
