Community Engagement Hosts Service Fair
UALR’s Office of Community Engagement hosts its annual service fair showcasing local community service organizations from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, in Donaghey Student Center Rooms A and B.
“This is an opportunity for our students, faculty, and staff to find out about service opportunities in central Arkansas,” said Betsy Hart, community relations coordinator in the Office of Community Engagement. “We facilitate UALR and community partnerships that are mutually beneficial.”
Hart said service can enhance degree program knowledge and experience as well as fulfill scholarship and other volunteer requirements, while nonprofit organizations benefit from the student and professional support.
“Little Rock has an abundance of nonprofit agencies, so it’s likely we can match anyone on campus with an agency that is the best fit,” she added.
Agencies expected to partipate include Alzheimer’s Association, American Heart Association, American Red Cross, AMIGOS, Arkansas Children’s Hospital, Arkansas Foodbank Network, Arkansas Service Commission, Arkansas State Library Services for the Blind, Baptist Health, Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Central Arkansas, CareLink, Children International, Heart of Arkansas United Way, Helping Hand of Greater Little Rock, Hospice Home Care, Little Rock School District, Little Rock Zoo, Museum of Discovery, Pinnacle Mountain State Park, St. Vincent Infirmary, Women and Children First, and Youth Home Inc. More organizations are being added daily.
