UALR Team Orchestrates DOE Global Change Workshop

UALR undergraduates Michael Tackett of Little Rock and Jonathan Eller of Maumelle completed the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Global Change Final Workshop in Washington, D.C. this summer, the 10th year for the program founded by two UALR professors.

UALR professors Jeff Gaffney and Nancy A. Marley, professor of chemistry, direct the national event for the DOE and Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education to promote undergraduate and graduate training in support of DOE’s global change research activities.

Gaffney, chair of UALR’s Department of Chemistry, is the program’s chief scientist, and Marley is the assistant chief scientist of the Global Change Education Program, which they initiated in 1999.

Dr. Milton J. Constantin of Oak Ridge is the director of ORISE, DOE’s institute focusing on scientific initiatives focusing on scientific initiatives to research health risks from occupational hazards.
