Program Requirements

Nonprofit Leadership Studies Program is a competency-based minor and national certificate program designed to prepare and certify students to work for nonprofit organizations upon completion of a bachelor’s degree.

To complete the minor and earn the Nonprofit Leadership Studies certificate, students must demonstrate that they have acquired the Nonprofit Leadership Studies Program competencies. Students should acquire these competencies through:

  • academic courses,
  • 300 hours of internship, and
  • diligent participation in the co-curricular activities of The Nonprofit Leadership Studies Program Student Association.

To complete the Nonprofit Leadership Studies program, students must demonstrate through these courses, internships, and co-curricular activities that they have acquired the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance competencies. The program director determines if students have acquired these competencies based on a combination of grades, written work, field supervisor reports, and direct observation of student behavior.
