Nursing

Welcome!

The UALR Department of Nursing offers several degree program options. Students must be formally accepted into the ASN or BSN program to be eligible for enrollment in nursing courses.

The Associate of Science (ASN) degree program has four options: Traditional, Traditional-Accelerated, LPN/LPTN-to-RN Transition, and Paramedic-to-RN Transition. The ASN program is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC). The program is approved by the Arkansas State Board of Nursing.

The department also offers a RN-to-BSN Completion program in a hybrid/on-line format. The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program offers RN graduates, of either an associate degree or a diploma program, an avenue to pursue an advanced degree, while continuing employment. The upper level nursing courses build on the curriculum foundation of the core Registered Nurse program and are designed to meet the continuing education needs of practicing RNs. The BSN program is a candidate for accreditation by the NLNAC.

The NLNAC accreditation visit for the BSN program (initial) and ASN program (continuing) will be September 15-17, 2009. The NLNAC is a source of information about the program and invites third party comments as a component of the accreditation process.
