How to Apply
Students who are considering a career in nursing should be aware that no application for initial Registered Nurse (RN) licensure will be considered by the Arkansas State Board of Nursing without state and federal criminal background checks by the Arkansas State Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The Arkansas State Board of Nursing shall refuse to issue the RN license to any person who is found guilty of, or pleads guilty or nolo contendere to any offense listed in ACT 1208 of 1999, for details refer to the Arkansas Nurse Practice Act, Sub Chapter 3 - Licensing (17-87-312 Criminal Background Checks).
The UALR Department of Nursing will conduct annual Criminal Background Checks and Drug Screenings on all fully admitted ASN students.
Application is a three step process:
- Application to and acceptance by UALR. Note: If you are a previous UALR student who has not taken UALR classes in two years, you must reapply to UALR.
- Application to the UALR Department of Nursing. Refer to the Application Forms page.
- Complete the EVOLVE A2 nursing entrance exam within one year of application to the program. Notify the EVOVE A2 testing sight to specify that UALR Department of Nursing should receive the scores. We will automatically receive your scores. If you did not specify the UALR Department of Nursing to receive your scores, you should send a report that includes your cumulative average with your application. Students can take the EVOLVE A2 at the UALR Testing Services and Student Life Research Office (501) 569-3198, at a lower cost.
