Nursing

UALR Department of Nursing

The UALR Department of Nursing is a vital member of the Little Rock community. For more than 40 years the UALR Department of Nursing has educated nurses and is responsible for the placement of nurses statewide, regionally , and even across the country. Our students have done clinicals at such institutions as: St. Vincent, UAMS, Baptist Health, Central Arkansas Veterans’ Administration, Children’s Hospital, Saline Memorial, Arkansas State Hospital, Birchtree, Bridgeway, elementary schools, public health clinics, long term care facilities, and more. UALR educated nurses are highly regarded by employers as being well prepared overall and as having outstanding critical thinking and communication skills.

The UALR Department of Nursing offers an Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) and a Bachelor of Nursing completion program (BSN) that is available in a hybrid/online format. Upon completion of the ASN curriculum, the graduate is eligible to apply to take the National Council Licensing Examination for Registered Nurses. The BSN allows RNs (diploma or associate degree graduates) an avenue to pursue an advanced degree while continuing employment.

The Associate of Science in Nursing and Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree programs are approved by the Arkansas State Board of Nursing.  Both the ASN and BSN are accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC), 3343 Peachtree Road NE, Suite 850, Atlanta, GA, 30326, (404) 975-5000.
