Policy:

Dropping an Individual Class

• Dropping an individual class (or classes) is primarily an academic decision. Students are strongly encouraged to meet with their instructor and/or academic advisor before deciding to drop a course.
• The deadline to drop an individual course can be found in the Undergraduate Catalog. Contact the Office of Records and Registration to drop an individual class: (501) 569-3110.
• Dropping an individual class (or classes) may impact whether a student is eligible for financial aid funds in the future. Refer to the UALR Admissions and Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy for more information.
• When student loan recipients drop below half-time status
  • (Undergraduate – 6 hours; Graduate - 5 hours; Law – 5 hours) second disbursement(s) of student loan(s) will be canceled.
  • Grace period begins on the date the student dropped below half-time.
  • Loan repayment begins if the grace period ends and student has not enrolled again with at least half-time status; repayment may begin earlier if the student is not eligible for a grace period.
  • Loan Exit Counseling is required: www.mappingyourfuture.org/sx
• Remember: Receiving an “F” will also impact future aid eligibility, in addition to lowering the student’s grade point average (GPA). Talk to your instructor or academic advisor and your financial aid advisor before making your final decision.

Withdrawing from the Semester

Withdrawing from the semester (dropping all classes) is primarily an academic decision. Students are strongly encouraged to meet with their instructor and/or academic advisor before deciding to withdraw from the term.

Students who withdraw from the term before completing at least 60% of the semester may owe a repayment of financial aid funds.

The deadline to withdraw is listed in the Undergraduate Catalog. Contact the Office of Records and Registration to withdraw from the term: (501) 569-3110.

Students who withdraw from the semester are not making satisfactory academic progress and the student will be canceled from all further aid at UALR.

There is no provision for probationary status for students who withdraw. No additional financial aid will be awarded until the student has satisfactorily completed at least 9 hours at UALR and achieved the minimum required GPA.

When student loan recipients withdraw:

• Second disbursement(s) of student loan(s) will be canceled.
• Grace period begins on the date the student dropped below half-time.
• Loan repayment begins if the grace period ends and student has not enrolled again with at least half-time status; repayment may begin earlier if the student is not eligible for a grace period.
• Loan Exit Counseling is required: www.mappingyourfuture.org/sx

Remember: Students who remain enrolled, but do not successfully complete any hours (grades of all F, W, NC, I and/or MG) are not making satisfactory academic progress and the student will be canceled from all further aid at UALR. Talk to your instructor or academic advisor and your financial aid advisor before making your final decision.
