Policy

To comply with the new federal copyright law regarding music performances, which became effective on January 1, 1978, the university will execute agreements with the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), Broadcast Music, Inc., (BMI), and SESAC, Inc. Each agreement will be executed on behalf of the Board of Trustees. A single agreement for all campuses will be signed with SESAC, Inc., and separate agreements for each campus will be executed with BMI and ASCAP. Fees will be paid by each campus.

The agreements require that periodic reports on enrollment, performances, and certain other information be submitted to the licensor. This requirement is the responsibility of each campus.

Copies of the agreements will be mailed to each chancellor and to the vice president for finance and administration.
