The University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR) invites applications for the position of Chair of the Political Science Department at the rank of associate or full professor with tenure. Ideally, the new Chair will assume duties on July 1, 2012.

The Political Science Department at UALR offers a BA in Political Science and houses the International Studies Program, as well as minors in Middle Eastern Studies, Legal Studies, and Presidential Studies. It also contributes courses to the Master of Arts in Liberal Studies. The Department has strong ties with the William J. Clinton Presidential Center, Clinton School of Public Service, the Arkansas State Government, and numerous local governments. The Department faculty members are actively involved in teaching and research and in a broad array of campus and community activities. The successful applicant, who will join an energetic, collegial department with seven other full-time faculty members, must have a Ph.D. in Political Science, appropriate administrative experience, a record of scholarly achievement appropriate to the Department’s tenure standards, a commitment to excellence in teaching and research, and experience in fundraising and development. The field of specialization is open.

The new Chair will play a vital leadership role in shaping the UALR Political Science Department’s future as it continues to build on its strengths. Over the next few years we plan to expand our program of undergraduate research, increase our outreach to and visibility in the community, and build an endowment to recruit outstanding undergraduate students.
