Records and Registration

What is Directory Information?

The items below are designated as "Directory or Public Information" by the University of Arkansas System and may be released for any purpose at the discretion of the University.

Directory information is defined as

  • name
  • address
  • telephone number
  • date of birth
  • dates of attendance
  • major field of study
  • enrollment status
  • participation in officialy recognized activities and sports
  • weight and height of members of athletic teams
  • Grade level
  • Degrees, honors and awards received
  • most recent educational agency or institution attended
  • e-mail address
  • photograph

A currently enrolled student may request that directory information be withheld by completing an appropriate request form in the Office of Records and Registration. This request will remain in effect until revoked by the student in writing. According to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), directory information can never include race, gender, social security number, grades, G.P.A, country or citizenship, and religion. UALR policies and procedures are in full compliance with regulations implementing the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA). Copies of this act and its implementing regulations are on file in the Office of Campus Life and are on reserve in Ottenheimer Library. Policies and procedures regarding student records are published in the UALR Student Handbook.
