George H. Jensen, Chair, Department of Rhetoric and Writing
George H. Jensen, Chair of the Department of Rhetoric and Writing, is a specialist in composition theory. With John K. DiTiberio, he published seminal research on personality differences as related to writing processes. This work was established in “Personality and Individual Writing Processes” (College Composition and Communication October 1984). The line of research continued in Personality and the Teaching of Composition (Ablex 1989) and Writing and Personality (Davies Black 1995). Some of Jensen’s other books include The Philosophy of Discourse (Boynton/Cook/Heinemann 1992), Storytelling in Alcoholics Anonymous: A Rhetorical Analysis (Southern Illinois UP 2000), Identities Across Texts (Hampton Press 2002). Most recently, he published Some of the Words Are Theirs: A Memoir of an Alcoholic Family (Moon City 2009).
