Kristin Dutcher Mann, Associate Professor of History
Kristin Dutcher Mann conducts interdisciplinary research on music, dance, and rituals in the missions of colonial New Spain. She is the author of articles about Jesuit and Franciscan music, dance and indigenous groups in Northern New Spain, and Christmas celebrations in Colonial New Spain. Her book, The Power of Song, examines cultural accommodation through music and dance. A former high school teacher, she also conducts research in social studies education, particularly the use of local history to strengthen the teaching of history at all levels.
