Marc S. Seigar, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics and Astronomy
Dr. Seigar earned his bachelor’s degree from Imperial College and his doctorate at Liverpool’s Astrophysics Research Institute. Before joining the faculty at UALR, Dr. Seigar held positions at the Joint Astronomy Center in Hilo, HI and at the University of California, Irvine.
Dr. Seigar’s research is focused on the structure, morphology and dynamics of galaxies. This includes studies of dark matter, supermassive black holes, and star formation in galaxies.
Dr. Seigar’s research group consists of a post-doctoral research fellow, Dr. Patrick Treuthardt, who is supported off of a NASA EPSCoR grant, and two graduate students. Dr. Seigar has published 55 articles with over 1000 citations. He has made 25 invited presentations and 18 contributed presentations.
